Circa 1910-11, here are 2 of Stone Harbor’s handsome beach front cottages, the property of Mr. John O. Gilmore of Overbrook, Pa.  Mr. Gilmore acquired his land free under the Stone Harbor Bond Plan.  These two 4-story cottages were located at the ocean end of 93rd Street, conveniently just 3 blocks away from the terminus of the Stone Harbor Ocean Parkway.  Being so close to the ocean, you can understand why these cottages were elevated one complete story above the ground.  For your information, the newly completed and rather distinctive Mediterranean style house in the background between these two cottages was owned by Charles R. Hall, located on First Avenue at 91st Street.
