No. 72 – “David Risley’s Bungalow” in Stone Harbor, N. J.

This vintage post card shows the beautiful Channel Bungalow of Mr. and Mrs. David Risley of Stone Harbor.  One of the three founding Risley brothers, David served as both secretary and treasurer for the South Jersey Realty Company headquartered in Philadelphia.  This large house was built overlooking both the Great Channel and the Snug Harbor Yacht Basin.

Notice the large front and back screened-in porches not to mention the second story which has a charming little open porch on the front.  As you can see this bungalow had wooden shingles covering the outside as was commonly the practice at the seashore during the early decades of the 1900s.
